FAQs

How do I prepare?

Wear loose and comfortable clothing. Jewellery needs to be removed and please avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine 24 hours prior to the session.

How long is a session?

Many clients find that having time to talk through what they’ve experienced helps them to process thoughts, emotions and bodily sensations before returning to their day.

Available session options:

90-minute session
Includes a full Reiki treatment followed by a 30-minute debrief, allowing time to reflect, ask questions and gently integrate what has come up.

75-minute session
Includes a Reiki treatment with a 15-minute debrief, offering space to ground and process after the session.

✨ Debrief time is optional and led by you — there is no pressure to talk if you prefer quiet integration.

How will I feel during and after the session?

Every Reiki session is unique, and people experience the energy in different ways.

Some clients report feeling extremely relaxed, as if they’ve completely switched off or entered a deep meditative state. Others notice vivid sensations, such as seeing colours, animals or imagery, or feeling warmth, tingling or movement within the body.

It’s also common for emotions to surface. You may feel a need to release — sometimes this comes as tears — which is a natural part of the body letting go. You are always held in a safe, nurturing and non-judgemental environment, where you’re free to relax fully and allow whatever arises.

After a session, you may feel:
• deeply calm or euphoric
• tired or in need of rest
• emotionally lighter
• mildly achey

These sensations are temporary and are often linked to the body processing and rebalancing energy. Any post-session effects usually settle within a few days.

You’ll be gently reminded to drink plenty of water and may be offered simple grounding practices to support integration after your session.

✨ Whatever your experience, you’re supported every step of the way.

How does distance Reiki work?

Distance Reiki works on the understanding that connection isn’t limited by physical space.

In science, we already know that everything is made up of energy and information, and modern physics shows that time and distance are far less fixed than we once believed. At the same time, neuroscience shows that the human body responds powerfully to intention, attention and a sense of connection — not just physical touch.

During a distance Reiki session, a clear intention and agreed time create a point of connection. Once this is in place, the nervous system often responds by dropping into a deeply relaxed, meditative state — the same state associated with healing, emotional processing and regulation.

Many people find distance Reiki especially effective because they’re receiving it in their own environment, where the body feels safer and more at ease. This sense of safety allows the mind to quieten and the body to let go more fully.

While science doesn’t yet have tools to measure Reiki energy itself, it does support the effects people commonly experience — such as deep relaxation, emotional release, changes in awareness and a greater sense of wellbeing — regardless of physical location.

✨ In simple terms: Reiki isn’t limited by distance because it works with awareness, intention and the body’s natural ability to respond when it feels safe and supported.

How many sessions will I need?

If you’re going through a particularly challenging or tender period — such as grief, chronic stress, burnout, illness or ongoing emotional difficulty — regular Reiki sessions can be especially supportive.

During times like these, the nervous system is often under sustained pressure. Receiving Reiki more consistently for a period of time can help the body feel safer, more regulated and better supported as it processes what you’re experiencing.

Some clients choose to have sessions more frequently for a while, before naturally spacing them out again as things stabilise.

I’ll always offer gentle guidance based on what I notice in our sessions, but the rhythm of your healing is never forced. We move at a pace that feels right for you.

✨ Think of Reiki as ongoing support — not something you have to get through alone.

Will Reiki cure me?

Reiki is a powerful healing method but should not be used as a cure. It will help get to the root cause of a condition and create the best environment for the body to heal. However please always seek medical attention iIf you are suffering from major physical or mental illnesses.

Do you treat children?

Yes I do! I treat many children who suffer from anxiety, insomnia, changes in hormones or growing pains. I also treat children with ADHD, autism, sensory processing disorders to help regulate their nervous system. Mainstream education can be a very stressful environment for some children and although major changes within the current system is required, Reiki can help to reduce their 'fight or flight' responses so they can navigate everyday challenges with more ease.

I offer Reiki for pregnancy, post-natal and babies too.

Is Reiki safe during pregnancy?

Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice and is generally considered safe during pregnancy when offered by a trained practitioner.

Sessions are always adapted to support comfort and safety, with positioning adjusted as needed (for example, side-lying or seated rather than lying flat). Reiki does not involve physical manipulation, pressure, or medication, and many pregnant clients find it deeply calming and supportive for both emotional and physical wellbeing.

That said, every pregnancy is unique. If you are pregnant, I recommend getting in touch before booking so we can discuss where you are in your pregnancy and ensure the session is tailored appropriately for you.

Reiki is offered as a complementary wellbeing practice and does not replace medical or midwifery care.

Do you practice self-care?

The more I practice self-care and self-love, the more I can effectively help others. Always put your oxygen mask on first. I do a self-healing meditation everyday, practice either Qigong, yoga or pilates and practice sending love, compassion and forgiveness to myself and others. I also receive Reiki healing from other practitioners and attend sound healing events. I have a Reiki Master Teacher who I regularly seek advice to help advance my techniques.
